Roulette is without a doubt one of the world’s most popular casino games. Roulettes popularity has in my view got a lot to do with the fact that it is the easiest of all table games to play, and win.
Gamblers have been seeking winning betting systems since the start of gambling. The challenge to find a “system” or a method of altering your bets in a way that will enhance the game odds to your favour can be compelling and for some addictive. It’s important that roulette players don’t take the search for a winning roulette system too seriously because, like the loch ness and big foot, they simply don’t exist.
Betting systems are a evolution of wagers, or bet amounts, that are predetermined to vary in accordance with previous win-loss results. The majority of roulette systems use even money Roulette bets such as red or black, odd or even, etc. All logical betting systems can produce attractive short term results that might seem too good to be true. The Martingale System is a perfect example.
The Martingale system instructs players to start with a minimum bet on an even money play such as “red”, and stay at that minimum betting level until a loss occurs, then double the wager on the next spin. The player is instructed to continue doubling the amount bet after each loss until the player wins from the spin. The player will then make a 1 unit profit and start over again with the minimum bet. A progression of this betting system is as follows: 1L, 2L, 4L, 8L, 16L, 32W or it can be stated as bet 1 unit – if you lose, then bet 2 units – if you lose, then bet 4 units etc. until the bet is followed by a win. (In this case the win occurs at the 32 bet level.)
Even though the player lost five of the six bets, the betting system produced a 1 unit profit for the play. (32 units won – 31 total units lost). The truth is that the Martingale system is a long term loser. The main flaw in this system is that the player is bound to experience a losing streak that will require the player to place a wager so large that it will exceed either the house limit or the player’s financial ability to continue playing. When this occurs the player always suffers a very large loss for the series of wagers he/she has just placed.
Together with Martingale, there are a plethora of differentiating betting systems with sophisticated names for example, Labouchere, Paroli and D’Alembert. They all have short term betting procedures of monetary value. But they also share the fact that, they all have the long term certainty of failure. Not impressed with any of the flamboyantly named systems that have been around for a long time, there are plenty of brand new get-rich-quick betting systems available for sale online. The advertisements for the betting systems are so compelling that people purchase them knowing that the possibility of a winning roulette formula being found is basically zero. The unscrupulous promoters absolutely love the fact that misguided people send them money for a phoney product, and not only that but the casino operators also love it when guests arrive at their online casino with all the info about these so called roulette systems and loose all there money chasing that ‘last payday’.
Online casino managers know that there never has been a Roulette betting system gives the player a long term edge over the house and are not concerned about anyone discovering one and selling it to all the eager paper chasers out there.
No bet amount choice can ever effect or change the house advantage regardless of the reasons for a bet amount selection.
Because of this fact, as the game stays the same, no betting system will ever work in the players favour in the long term… This is why there are no professional Roulette players.
