Blackjack is one of the commonly and widely played casino games. Thousands of people play blackjack everyday not only online but also in real casinos. If blackjack is something you want to learn to play but are contemplating about it because you don’t know it’s rules then please stop contemplating because these are probably the most simplest of rules of any game. Get to know the basic blackjack rules here.

You might be a little surprised to know that you don’t really play against a whole lot of other players. In fact you just play against the dealer. You win the game when you meet it’s only objective of obtaining cards totalling up to or equal to 21 but higher than the dealer’s hand. When the total of cards crosses 21 you are said to have busted and you lose the game. The value of your hand is the summation of the values of your cards in hand. Kings, Queens, and Jacks are assigned the value of ten points each. An Ace can hold one or eleven points and it’s valuation depends on your choice. There are no different or special values assigned to numbered cards and so their value is equal to the number on them. The two-card hand of 21 points is considered to be the best hand in blackjack when one of those two cards is an Ace and the other is thus worth ten points.

Once the players have placed their bets the game begins. Each player needs to place his bet before the game begins and before dealing any cards. On having the bet placed by every player the dealer deals the cards. Two cards, facing up, are rendered to the players. Of the two cards dealt to the dealer only one is placed face-up and the other is placed face-down. After looking at their cards the players then take a decsion to either stand or hit. Of course it makes complete sense to hit if the total of the cards in hand is quite low. Don’t forget to be careful, though, because if your hand total exceeds 21, then you automatically lose. Whenever you are convinced that your hand cannot get better with a hit it makes sense to simply stand. Now the dealer shows his cards. Most blackjack rules state that the dealer must hit if his cards’ total is less than 16. In case you win simply due to the total of cards being higher than that of the dealer’s then you are paid 1:1. On winning outright with a blackjack you are entitled to a payment in the proportions of 3:2.

On having complete understanding of the basics you can get down to learning more like splitting and doubling down. Knowing these advanced Blackjack Rules happens to be crucial in helping you improve your strategies in the game. Good luck!
