When it comes to vacations, many travelers are interested in gambling and gaming. So why not use this to your advantage and take the house for all it is worth. While we can not guarantee you hit the jackpot, you can use these tips to your advantage when staying at a gaming resort.

Play the odds
Craps, baccarat, and blackjack offer the best odds that a Vegas casino gives. The house takes the smallest cut and are quite easy to learn and play. If you don’t know how to play, many resorts offer you free lessons early in the morning.
Stay away from slots, Keno, and roulette. They are the worst odds and you will blow through a ton of money.

Get complimentaries:
Complimentaries or “comps” as they are most often referred to as, are offered at almost every casino in the world. After spending quite a bit of time and money at tables, casinos recognize this. Most casinos offer complimentary beverages while playing and after a while may offer you free a free night stay. Why you ask? Well the more time you stay with them and gamble, the more likely they will make that money back. If a casino is only 75% full, what is the true cost of giving you a free night stay? Maybe $20 for cleaning? That money can be earned in minutes with you at the casino.

Get the player card:
A player card tracks your every dollar and location at casinos. While this looks intrusive, casinos use it to gage your activity and interests. They also use it to track your spending and see how their investment is paying off. After logging some time and money, casinos will provide incentives so that you stay there more often and don’t go to competitors. You will even have access to VIP events and functions. Picture it like a frequent flyer card except for casinos.

Keep to your budget:
Before entering a casino, set a maximum loss amount. Never pass this. Chances are if you lost all you set aside, “doubling down” or chasing your losses won’t get you out; it will merely double your losses. Also never use credit to gamble. If you can’t afford to get cash, paying 15-30% finance charges on your losses won’t make things better. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.

Keep to your strategy:
If you are up, don’t push your luck and be greedy. Be happy, grab some dinner and call it quits. If you keep pushing your bets, you will eventually lose. The odds are never in your favor.

Have fun:
View gambling as a form of entertainment; like a movie. Yes it is money, but you are passing time and hopefully having some fun along the way. If gambling is not your thing, almost every casino has plenty of other things to do. No need to get caught up in all the winnings and losses; have fun and remember it’s your vacation!
